The conservatory has a long organ tradition as well. Famous organists such as Anthon van der Horst, Piet Kee, Albert de Klerk and Hans van Nieuwkoop taught at this department for years. Today's teachers Jacques van Oortmerssen, and Pieter van Dijk are prominent figures on national and international concert stages. A number of magnificent organs are used as teaching instruments: the organs of the Grote of St. Bavokerk in Haarlem (Chr.Müller), the St.Laurenskerk in Alkmaar (Van Hagerbeer/Schnitger and Van Covelens) and the Waalse kerk (Chr.Müller), the Augustinuskerk (Cavaillé-Coll) and the Nicolaaskerk (Sauer) in Amsterdam. There is an extensive programme of masterclasses and special courses every year.
