In the past many teachers of great renown were associated with the conservatory. But a large number of today's singers who appear regularly on stage in the Netherlands and abroad, have been trained by the teachers currently working at the school. Valerie Guillorit, Pierre Mak, Hein Meens, and David Wilson Johnson are versatile artists active in many fields.

Apart from tuition by the principal-study teacher, vocal students take courses dealing with posture and movement, Italian for singers and acting. The song class is a weekly session where duos work at interpretation, textual treatment, expressiveness and ensemble playing with reference to specific song repertoire.

The students take part in projects with guest teachers from the Netherlands and abroad. Much attention is devoted to singing in vocal ensembles, and chamber choir projects are regular occurrences. These projects are led by Jos van Veldhoven or Jos Vermunt, but there is also occasional collaboration with orchestras such as the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra and the Netherlands Philharmonic Orchestra. For advanced singers and pianists Udo Reinemann gives special master classes.

N.B. As we have found that vocal candidates are sometimes insufficiently aware of the entrance requirements, students are advised to contact the section coordinator at an early stage.

Opera Introduction Course
As a preparation for the master's degree programme at the Dutch National Opera Academy, advanced students may be eligible to take part in the supplementary (one-year) operatic introduction course ('Oriëntatiecursus Opera'). Students acquaint themselves with the various operatic disciplines and there are limited opportunities for gaining practical experience in staged opera productions of the Dutch National Opera Academy.  

Opera Coach
For pianists there is a possibility to take an advanced study for Opera Coach.

Lied Accompaniment
Lied accompaniment is a specialization for advanced piano students. Rudolf Jansen, specialist in Lied accompaniment, provides a yearly series of international masterclasses for Lied duos.
