The Course
The Bachelor of Music in Education is a four-year programme and can be divided up into two phases:
1. The propaedeutic phase (the first academic year). The first academic year serves to introduce students to the many facets of their future profession, e.g. primary education, secondary education and all kinds of other professional areas in which music is encountered in educational situations. A basic set of courses also affords them insight into their own musical potential with respect to music-theory and performance courses (with individual elective options).
2. The main phase (the second, third and fourth academic years). In addition to developing their musical and pedagogical skills further, students will broaden their knowledge of education and music theory during this phase and can specialize in a specific area of music education.
Electives programme
In the third and fourth year of study, students may choose practical and theoretical subjects in the field of classical music, jazz and pop from the electives programme.
The Bachelor of Music in Education diploma will be conferred on students who have successfully concluded each course component.
Academic Calendar
The annual programme is divided into three terms that are separated by three-week-long class-free terms during which special projects, internship weeks, possible excursions and examinations are held.
International Contacts
Depending on their individual options, students may study for a short or extended period abroad during the fourth year of study.
