How do the auditions for the Dutch National Opera Academy work?
The auditions for the Dutch National Opera Academy will be held over three days and will all be taking place at the Koninklijk Conservatorium, The Hague. It is important to keep those three days free in your diary.
On 10 and 11 April there will be vocal auditions for the committee for all prospective candidates. You should present three contrasting arias, one with recitative, in different languages, one in Italian. At the end of the vocal auditions you will be contacted by telephone with the result.
Students with a positive result from the vocal auditions will be expected to take part in an intensive music repertoire coaching session with the members of the DNOA music staff, an intensive Physical Theatre training session under the leadership of Willy Verkuil and an intensive drama workshop involving improvisation techniques under the leadership of Javier López Piñón. The artistic leader of the DNOA will be present at all these sessions.
Students from abroad
Students from abroad with a positive result from the vocal auditions will do the physical theatre training and drama workshops on 12 April.
Students who live in The Netherlands
Students who live in The Netherlands with a positive result from their vocal audition will do the physical theatre training and drama workshop on 12 April.
You will receive the written result of the audition in one week.
Should you then not be successful you can make an appointment (also by telephone) with Alexander Oliver, the artistic leader of the Dutch National Opera Academy, who will be happy to discuss your audition with you.
