Classical and Early Music Master Programme Plan of Study Guidelines

These guidelines will help you draw up your plan of study for the master's degree programme. Please read this information before filling out undefinedthe plan of study form. Since the plan of study serves as a basis for the master's degree programme as a whole, it is important that it is well-prepared from the start. Candidates are therefore recommended to draw up this outline in consultation with the (intended) principal subject teacher, the student advisor and/or the master electives and research coordinator.

This form must be filled out completely and submitted at least three weeks before your entrance exam takes place. It will be part of the assessment.

The plan of study comprises the following compulsory elements:

I Principal study 55-75 credits (1540-2100 hours)
II Research 15-25 credits (420-700 hours)
III Electives 20-30 credits (560-840 hours)
IV Individual credits10 credits (280 hours)

The amount of credits to be spent on principal study, research, and electives may range between the limits indicated above, as long as the total study load amounts to 120 credits at least. This enables students to pursue personal interests within the master's degree programme, e.g. to extend their research projects, or to steer their principal studies towards pedagogical issues and concerns. Candidates must state these interests in their plan of study, and provide motivation for the number of credits to be spent if this exceeds the minimum.
