Master electives are courses in music history, music theory, arranging, performance practice, studio and recording techniques, etc. Some courses are offered by the University of Amsterdam. The study load is 10 or 5 credits per subject (for Contemporary Music through Non Western Techniques it is 20 credits for a whole year, for Building a Professional Practice 15 credits). For registration, please use the
plan of study form.
There are two kinds of electives:
*
Category A: history, theory, analysis, arranging
*
Category B: music practice (performance, composition, improvisation)
Some subjects fall in both categories.
NB: Each student should take at least two electives and earn a minimum of 20 credits with them. At least one of these courses should fall in Category A (or in both categories).
NB. The list of subjects is subject to alteration. More information can be obtained from Michiel Schuijer
