On February 16, 17 and 18, 2010, Rudolf Jansen will give masterclasses on the Lieder of Robert Schumann and Gustav Mahler at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam. A series of jubilee masterclasses, since 2010 marks the 200th and 150th anniversaries of Robert Schumann and Gustav Mahler, and Rudolf Jansen himself will celebrate his 70th birthday in 2010.
Singers and pianists from other conservatories in The Netherlands and abroad are welcome to participate. For these masterclasses each duo is required to prepare ten songs. Candidates will audition for participation on February 1, 2010 in the Sweelinckzaal.
Candidates living abroad may also send a recording with two songs by Schumann and two by Mahler. The recordings must be sent to the Conservatorium van Amsterdam before January 15, 2010.
Fees
The fee is EUR 225,- per duo. Board and lodging are not included. Participation for Conservatorium van Amsterdam students is free.

Rudolf Jansen
Rudolf Jansen studied piano and organ at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam with Nelly Wagenaar, and his father Simon C. Jansen. He has been awarded many prizes, such as the Prix d’Excellence, for organ as well as for piano.
In addition to his solo career Rudolf Jansen has specialized in Lied-accompaniment and chamber music. Concert tours took him the world over, together with artists of great reputation. As a teacher of masterclasses for Lied duos he is much in demand throughout Europe, the United States and Canada. He has made over 120 recordings, two of which were awarded with an Edison. A CD with Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau and the Nederlands Kamerkoor received the Deutsche Schallplattenpreis.
