About the Conservatorium van Amsterdam

The Conservatorium van Amsterdam (CvA) is the largest and most diverse conservatory in the Netherlands. With outstanding teachers at its disposal, situated in one of Europe's most vibrant musical centres, the conservatory takes full advantage of Amsterdam's multifaceted musical climate. The CvA is therefore well-placed to help students develop into versatile musicians at the highest level.

As from April 21, 2008, the conservatory houses in a new building at the Oosterdokskade, near Amsterdam Central Station.

A wide range of courses
The CvA offers courses ranging from classical music, jazz and early music to opera, latin and popular music. Owing to the many special projects, the curriculum guarantees a strong link between theory and practice. Both in the bachelor's and the master's degree programmes students are given ample opportunity to make individual choices and go their own way.

The CvA offers the following courses in the field of professional musical training:
* preparatory courses in collaboration with secondary education and music school
* bachelor's and master's programmes in classical music, jazz, early music, pop music and opera
* a Bachelor of Music in Education degree programme
* part-time course in Music in Education
* special education: Young Talent Division, contract education, refresher and follow-up courses
* Master of Music in Music Theory in collaboration with the Universiteit van Amsterdam

The Conservatorium van Amsterdam is part of the Amsterdam School of the Arts.
